Synopsis

On the eve of Lady Windermere's 21st Birthday, she receives from her husband, a new fan with her name on it. This is turing out to be one of the best day of her life but the Duchess of Berwick soon changes that. She reveals that Lord Windermere has for the last six months, been seeing the Mysterious Mrs. Erlynne, a young widow.

All comes to a head when Lady Winderemere confronts her husband about this, an argument ensues and he demands that Lady Windermere invites Mrs. Erlynne to the ball, that is being held in honour of her birthday.

Who is Mrs. Erlynne? What secret is she hiding? Why can't Lady Winderemere ever find out the truth about Mrs. Erlynne? Is Lady Winderemere about to make the biggest mistake of her life? What is the hold that Mrs. Erlynne has over Lord Winderemere?
